Walked into the Kingdom of the Little Parrots yesterday and found Freddie (cockatiel) sitting ON JADE'S DOOR. Her door folds down like a front porch. Jade was on the perch right above the door, not bothered a bit. I said to Freddie, "Have you lost your MIND?" because nobody is allowed on Jade's cage ... except she has been letting Benjy get away with it and he's even stupid, er, brave enough to go IN sometimes. Now she's letting Freddie sit on her door. Next thing she'll be stepping up.
However, just to remind me that she's still Jade, this morning she flew over to say good morning and gave me a nasty chomp on the back of the neck. When I said, "What was THAT for?" she said, "Jade a good girl!"

I don't know-- maybe Jade's figuring "I can't keep these pests away from my cage, so I may as well let them stay." Or she could be mellowing. If so, it's evidently a gradual process as the latest chomp indicates.

Sounds like Jade has a healthy dose of humour... Maybe you should chomp her back and then tell yourself you're a good girl.

Jade does have a sense of humor. She has this giant bell hanging in front of her favorite perch in her cage and she holds it in her foot and yells into it, which makes me laugh, so she bobs her head and does it over and over and if she thinks my attention is lagging, she wears the bell as a hat. On occasion, when I've had a bad day and I'm complaining to the birds about the unholy mess they make for me to clean up, she'll say "Make your POINT. Make your (bad word) POINT!!!! What IS the point?" She learned that in her former home, but she knows when it's appropriate to pull that one out and fling it at me.
