For a long time now, Yoshi has said "good boy!" after doing tricks, or doing things he knows he's supposed to. He of course caught on to this after me saying it, excitedly, each time.
Likewise, I tell Melly "good girl!" under the same circumstances. Well, for the past month or so, Yoshi has started saying "good girl!" after he does something deserving of the phrase. I'm unsure if he's trying to tell me he now identifies as a female, or what.
Actually, I'm fairly sure he feels as if I'm somehow giving Melly more praise by the difference in the phrase, and he wants to ensure he's receiving equal or greater praise than her.
Such funny little critters...

You could always do what I do and use the more generic phrase "good parrot" for both Yoshi and Melly. It seems to satisfy both Ralph and Scooter.

That's funny ! A little attention jealousy disorder ! Buddy screams good boy for a lot of things that are un becoming of such. .like jumping off my shoulder to poo on the back of the chair vs his t stand.

This is actually a good idea, and something I should probably do. Now I've just got to train myself to change the phrase. The birds are much more quick at learning than myself...

That's one of the first things Ralph learned to say, and he likes the word "parrot." Scooter the CAG so far refuses to say that word, maybe because she doesn't think she is a parrot.

Clyde says "Jade a good girl!" and "Good girl! Pretty girl!" because he MUST say all the things Jade can say to avoid being shown up by her. He clearly doesn't quite realize that saying "Jade a good girl" refers to his sworn enemy. LOL

When I had a boy bird (cockatiel) inside in the same room with Bonnie I used to just say "good birdie". But she never said it...
