Our Forum friend Allee contacted me through another forum on which we're both active. She asked me to pass along a big hello to everyone here from her and all the flock. All the birds are doing well-- QP Harry is just as feisty as ever, QP Zeke is fine but grumpy from his molt and has become best friends with 'Tiel Sweet Pea. Allee's life is quite full and busy, but she hopes to join us here again soon.

Allee did sign up here on the new Forum not long ago, so we'll probably be reading some posts from her soon.

I don't use Facebook, so I wouldn't know about that, but I know that Allee is active on another parrot forum that I visit-- she's one of the moderators over there, and I imagine that demands a lot of her time.

Hi guys, a sweet little quaker named Ralph told me I was missed. Thank you for that. I've missed all of you too. Gary is absolutely right. I didn't lose interest, I've just been crazy busy. I have been painting finally and producing work for the most patient customers ever. I haven't increased my flock but I did adopt a thirteen year old border collie that spent her first thirteen years on a Texas ranch. She's enjoying her retirement and we all love her. Harry is still her rotten self, her health and appearance have improved dramatically. She hasn't plucked or laid eggs in months. She has completely stopped biting except for the random chomp to remind me who's in charge. Believe it or not, my girl is station trained. Popeye and Harry share a room. They are besties. Zeke has adopted Sweet Pea, they adore each other and play together constantly. Sweet pea is the happiest little tiel. She got over her bumpy start and mangled wings and has a wonderful personality. She's pretty cocky right now, her new cage is slightly larger than the quaker cages. She lords it over them. She eats with the bigger birds and never misses a meal. She would love Mr. P. Piper and Twinkle, same birds, I changed their names, my little white budgies are doing great, they have a newly remodeled cage to share. I love being a mod on the forum Gary mentioned, but it is time consuming. That's about it, I can't afford to hire extra hands so I am the sole caretaker. I have to fight the flock and the pack for studio time as it is. So a lots happened on the forum while my back was turned, good and bad. I will try to spend more time here, it's like returning home and catching up with family. I know, promises, promises, but I will try. I joined FB but it just isn't my thing, and I can't find the time.

good to hear from you, Allee, we have missed you.
Sounds like your life is going well, and that IS what counts!

Thank you, Sharyn. I've missed you too. How is the handsome Mr. P. doing? Are you still fostering? I was reading about the white capped Pionus, how did that turn out? How are your son and daughter doing?

The White Capped Pionus, Pele, is still with me. We are working on some clicker/target training to help him learn to step up. First the target training, then that will be incorporated into step up training, then he will be ready for adoption. There is a family interested in him, but he is not ready for a new flock quite yet. He is a smart little guy, though, and he has finally decided he likes me (I give him a lot of treats) so I don't think he will be with me too much longer. The target training has been interesting to say the least, and I'm thinking "the handsome Mr P" could benefit from it too! Mr P is doing well, I will have had him a year on 1/4/15, and he has certainly changed from that timid little dude to his present self. His new thing is that he has learned to stand on the edge of his playstand, closest to my desk and holler HEY at me until I pay attention to him. Not sure where he learned that, I didnt think I said HEY to him! Kids are good, daughter is taking the BAR exam in Feb and will give me another grandson in March We are excited. Son is living in MD, looking for a job, which hopefully he will find soon. Thanks for asking!!!!!!

Thanks for the update, Sharyn! Very nice to hear from you.
I admire you for fostering, I couldn't do it, I get far too attached. There are no sanctuaries or rescues anywhere near me anyway. I've heard Pionus parrots can be a handful, my AvVet has one, he has a cage behind her reception desk, she calls it Jet's office. Very smart birds. I hope Pele finds the perfect home.
AAACK! I can't believe almost a year has passed since Mr. P. adopted you! I bet he has changed a lot. I'm glad he's doing so well.
Best of luck to your daughter and son.

I get attached to the little guys too, but I look at it this way. For every foster that gets adopted, I can welcome another bird into my home that is in need of some TLC Otherwise, if I adopted every bird I fostered, I'd have no more room! LOL and quite honestly, I wasnt attached to the little tiel I just finished fostering. He was a sweet bird but dumber than a box of rocks. I prefer them a little more intelligent, even if that makes them difficult. Guess that is why I like quakers I am hoping to get a mini macaw to foster next, although they don't come into the rescue that often
