Heading up to the northern reaches of the Mississippi River next week on a fishing trip..again...Was thinking about bringing home some driftwood to make some perches or maybe a tree stand. There's just so much of it there ya wonder why it's so expensive. The river is much cleaner up there than to the south for sure, but has anyone else done this? I'm thinking I'd have to bleach it first, scrub it ect and let it dry in the warm sun?? Just want to be careful.. Can't wait to go. I'll get a kiss from buddy when I leave, and a nice big bite when I return lol..not looking forward to that!

I would most certainly think the driftwood is okay if you clean it as you stated. I would love to make a stand for Oscar out of the driftwood too but this first hurdle would be convincing hubby... lol... it would mean another large space of the living room gone. oh well... Oscar can't have everything.

Well I actually forgot to get some!.it was almost flood stage so lots of junk, branches logs, whole trees made it dangerous to be out in a boat. Fishing was horrible as a result too..got more bites when I got home than I did up there!!! Man does he hate me when I go away.. I dunmo..maybe I'll make a perch out of the 1 piece I have, and a stand out of some wood around the yard..space is getting to be an issue with everything "bird"! I could almost make one of those visual pictures for all the toys and cages ect.. "Find the bird" haha..I do have to look sometimes and ask "buddy where are you? " I dunno..when I get bit with something, sometimes I go a little too far. Ya know what I mean?
