For those who need help, here is a tutorial on How to Start a Thread. You can find other tutorials in the "Forum Guidelines~Contact Info~How To" section.
Now, a little about myself...
My name is Dani and I'm from northwest Washington state. I joined the Quaker forum in 2008 because my husband, Zach, and I wanted to add another bird to our flock. At the time we had Arnold Schwarzebirdy aka "Arnie" (a budgie) and the Tazmanian Devil aka "Taz" (a cockatiel). Soon after, our baby Quaker Chewy joined the flock.
About two years ago I noticed that our mods had "disappeared" (as in, they had jobs, families, and...well, lives...LOL) and weren't as active on the forum. So I approached Shelly and offered to join the moderating team which was welcomed. So, here I am. And I have to say, you all are AMAZING people. Managing this forum has been a true joy.
My current flock includes Taz and Chewy, my Keeshond dog Bilbo Doggins aka "Bilbo", my siamese mix cat "Diablo", my Appaloosa mare "Cami", a Fire-Bellied Newt, a saltwater aquarium which is home to a Mantis Shrimp, a saltwater reef aquarium, two freshwater community tanks, a freshwater tank which is home to a female Red-Eyed Puffer fish, a freshwater tank which is home to a Betta, and a freshwater tank that is in the process of getting set up to breed Crystal Red shrimp (now it is completely cycled and the pH and kH levels are correct, so it is home to a school of ten Exclamation Point Rasboras and six Blue Diamond Shrimp (instead of the Crystal Reds).
Outside of this forum I'm also a volunteer staff member of Auction Horses, a group of concerned horse lovers dedicated to saving horses from slaughter. I don't go into much detail about this here (other than posting about my own horse) because of the graphic nature of the subject, but if anyone has questions please feel free to send me a PM.
I also like to read, make beaded jewelry, sew, and spend time with friends and family.
Welcome to the new forum!
