I'm sorry for your loss. How awful.
Freddie is doing a little better and he'll adjust, but it's got to be tough. He's very clingy and your other Bourke's probably will be, too, once the first shock of loss has worn off. Freddie even slept in his cage last night and he NEVER does that. He always sleeps on a curtain rod or the hanging lap, and for him to let me tuck him in for the night in his cage, and to STAY there all night, is very unusual.
Unrelated, I think, but Ringo has learned to say "whatcha doin'?" and said it brightly and with perfect clarity this morning.

Hi Siobhan, sorry, I only just saw your last post now...don't know how I missed it. Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, the other Bourke's (she is a pink one) was quite subdued for a bit. Anyway, we ended up putting our runner/handicapped cockatiel in the outdoor aviary with her (for some company, also we're going away for 2 weeks around Christmas and it's easier having them together for that) and they both seem a LOT happier. The cockatiel was always outside and knows the pink Bourke's parrot already - we just moved him inside this year because we thought the male Bourke's was attacking him. Anyway, now the male Bourke's isn't around, they are fine together and the cockatiel LOVES being outdoors. I'm pretty impressed that a starling can talk. Way to go!

I missed part of this thread, too, biteybird. I'm sorry about your Bourke's parrot. it's nice that you've been able to make your other Bourke's and your cockatiel a little happier.
