Hi
I noticed my Quaker is the missing the gray scales on his one leg, the scales are gone right above the claw all the way to the body. His other leg is fine. He is not favoring the leg and I can't see an open wound. He is eating fine and every looks good except for the missing gray scales. Any suggestions on what might have caused it and what I can do to heal it?
Thanks for any help
Kristin

Hi Kristin. I've never come across this with any of my birds and don't have any good tips for you, but I would be concerned enough about it to see an avian vet. The fact that you are seeing it in only leg pretty much eliminates any of the potential causes that come to my mind, like diet or humidity. A scale-less leg might be vulnerable to injury. This is a new one to me, and I hope you'll come back with an update once you find an answer.

Hi Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I will make an appointment to see an avian vet.

Hi Kristin. Did you ever find out what was causing this? I would love to know the answer, as I have never heard of such a thing.
