Just noticed my bird has a lump on his back, where the wing meets the upper back towards the neck. It's really red and pinkish and hard about the size of a pea. He is not bothered by it. Behaving normal with appetite. He lets me touch it and is preening as usual. Taking him to get but anyone seen this before?

I have not seen it, but I'll be interested to learn what it is after you've seen the vet.

So it turned out to be liposarcoma. The tumour is cancer. I was told it is a localized and aggressive kind and should not spread throughout his body. But cancer is birds is rare and the outcome is unknown. He is doing fine and seems normal otherwise. I need to keep an eye on him for more growths. If more appear, they have to be removed. I am heartbroken.

Oh, no, sorry. Hopefully your little guy won't get any more of them. At least, from what you've said, he seems unbothered by what's happened.

So I just found another lump. this one is on the keel bone closer to preen gland. It is hard to explain. I can only find it when I feel his breast bone while he is standing up. He won't let me flip him on his back for closer examination. Anyway, back I go to the vet to see what this is. I had also posted about sudden weight gain in a month. he went from 137 g in November to 149 g in December. I started examining him because I was thinking maybe his weight gain is a tumour. I'm so sad. It is so expensive to treat this and I am not ready to let go of my feathered friend of 23 years. The ride to the vet is so stressful for him. The after care I had to provide after his surgery just about killed me with anxiety. Keeping an eye on him 24 hours to make sure he wasn't going to start ripping at the stitches. I went through many, many sleepless nights. This was just in September. God help me and my bird.

I am so very sorry to hear about this! I can make NO promises, and I do NOT wish to give you any sort of false hope, but I have a suggestion which might help if you are very lucky. Please verify this on the internet, as there are a myriad of sites that can tell you about it.
In the early 1920s a young nurse names Caisse became fascinated by herbal remedies used by the Ojibway Indians of North America. An old Ojibway medicine man was eventually convinced to give her the recipe for a medicine that cured a great many illnesses. The medicine man said that it could even cure cancer ! The medicine was s simple herbal tea made with slippery elm bark, rhubarb root, burdock root and sheep sorrel leaves . With medical regulations being mush less stringent in 1920 than they are today, miss Caisse decided to give this tea to some of her patients with cancer. To her surprise it actually seemed to help, and she saw improvement in many of her patients !! It worked so well that she took her tea to the Canadian government who agreed to test it. The result was that the Government of Canada declared this tea to be a CURE for cancer in 1921 ! The nurse named the tea Essiac ... which was simply her name spelled backwards. There have been many convoluted branches in the story of Essiac since 1921, but even today you can find thousands of people who declare that Essiac can cure cancer ! I know this because I used it 20 years ago to cure my father of lung cancer , and then used it to cure my best friend of prostate cancer. I know that this sounds too good to be true , but I can tell you 2 things that mey persuade you to try it.
1. This tea is perfectly legal, non Harmful in any way and can be easily found on the internet
2. You can probably find a supply of this tea for as little as $30- $50
Please check it out on the internet. If you decide that this might be useful for your bird you can fing this tea in the form of a dry herbal tea that you can brew at home or perhaps as a bottled liquid. If you decide not to try it, that is your choice. I only offer it a possible help for your bird, although I must state that no medicine is ever absolutely certain. If you wish to talk further with me about this please feel free to contacts me here on the forum . I will check back occasionally to see if you have any reply for me.
I wish you and your little birdie good luck, and I hope he is healthy soon !
