For the past few days, Scooter the CAG has been obsessed with phrases containing the word water-- some that she learned and some she made up on her own. Among them: You have a mess in your water and Scooter, you need fresh water, both in her former owner's voice; Scooter, you pooped in your water, spoken in my voice (I think I've said that to her only two or three times), and these that she made up: Here's your water, bird (I've said "Here's your water," and have called her a bird, but never put the two together); and this one that I like a lot-- You have water in your water. Funny gray bird.

Does Scooter make a kind of gurgling sound when you run water? Allie does that, and I've read that a lot of other greys do, too. It sounds like water being poured.

That's one sound she hasn't made, yet. She imitates all sorts of things-- I've mentioned how much she enjoys imitating anything that beeps or boops. A while ago, I received a package that was sealed with duct tape, and Scooter did a perfect impression of the sound that was made when I pulled the tape off the box. If I open a soft drink bottle, she imitates the initial opening fizz, and she does a good impression of the window blinds sliding open or closed. So far, she does not imitate Ralph's little squawks, though he did teach her to quack like a duck.

They are so cheeky! I wonder why they like copying sounds in front of us...almost as though they know it will make us laugh.
