We went camping at Lake Eildon about 2 months ago and there were quite a few wild King Parrots that visited. Here is one of the males (perhaps the 'top bird' of the group). Here are a couple of them enjoying some crumbly cheese - naughty! (and before anyone asks, YES, that is me - complete with double chin!)... And here is the 'top bird' reminding a juvenile male who is boss. A juvenile male (you can see his male red colour starting to emerge just below his neck): The 'top bird' is enjoying some salami and semi-dried tomato:

Looks great Biteybird. I am fortunate enough to have them visit my backyard each day. Since I have put in the bird bath I get all sorts of winged visitors - it is wonderful standing at the kitchen window and watch who is visiting.

Wow.... those birds are gorgeous. We would never see colors like that here in the North. You look great biteybird..... hardly a double chin I would worry about. lol.
Thanks for posting the pictures. I just love them.

Wow! They are so tame too! The only outside bird we can feed by hand are nuthatches and chickadees.... why tinier!

Thanks, guys! Actually I, too, was surprised how tame they are, but just decided to hold my hand out & see what would happen. Of course the food helped!🙂

Their tameness is really remarkable. I can hardly believe those are wild birds.
