Remi looks like he's thinking "Wow! Is this really for me?" He'll love having so much space.

I think it will take him awhile to get used to that cage but that his permanent home now. Whoever adopts him gets the cage too. I really like the cool ledges and ladders it has!

So Remi hates his new cage. He slept in it last night and when I uncovered him this morning he was all freaked out. Puffy and weird, wouldn't eat, looking like he was really sick, shaking, etc. He was fine yesterday afternoon, even ate from his new seed cups. I weighed him this morning, his weight was fine, his poop was fine, he just was really weirded out. I pulled out his old cage and set him and it outside on my porch for some sun. He slept the whole morning and when he woke up, ate like he hadnt eaten all day (which he hadnt) Lesson learned, guess I moved him too fast. Ironically enough, I am going to be gone for 3 days beginning on Fri. I wanted to get him out of his small cage and into his new one before I left so he would have more room. Guess the smallness of his old cage bothers me more than him. for now, I have them set up side by side, which is how they will stay for a while, at least until I get back. Then I guess I'll have to put him in a few hours at a time, but let him sleep in his old cage. I'm spoiled, as soon as I put FOOD DISHES in Mr P's new cage, he went right in and made himself at home.

Peppy was slow to move out of his very undersized old cage. It also was crusted with old poops with all the properties of concrete, so I was a lot more anxious for him to move than he was. Eventually I moved his one toy (out of two he came with) into the new place, and he came across, but it took quite a while. He didn't seem to miss the old place once he moved. I have him in a 20" x 20" that I hope to make his night cage one day. Poor Remi. He seems to be very adaptable, but I guess everyone has their limits.

I've got his old cage butted up against the new one. Although he doesnt seem to be afraid of the new one, he won't go in it. I may as well just move out of my bedroom and start sleeping on the couch since it's being over taken with cages
By this afternoon, after spending the day in his old cage with the door open, like we have been, he seemed to be fine.
I guess he's just going to have stay in his small cage while I'm gone, and we work on getting him slowly moved over when I get back.
Poor thing, he wasnt that weirded out when he arrived here !

Aww poor Remi, I guess that was one too many changes, he must like the cosiness of his little familiar home. Hopefully when you get back you can convince him his new one is better.

So, FPR emailed me yesterday to tell me we have a potential adopter for Remi! I'm so excited, my first foster is hopefully getting adopted to his forever home The potential adopter is coming over this Sat (9/27) to meet Remi and if they "click", take him home. Lol, the little guy never even came out of quarantine! He is such a sweet little guy, I'm so happy for him.

Congratulations! I assume he eventually accepted the larger cage. Now who will be next? I wish I thought I could do the same thing without becoming a collector.

Actually, we compromised on the cage. I gave him the cage that Mr P originally came in. Too small for a quaker but perfect for a tiel. I kept the new Remi cage, if my next foster needs a larger cage that one will be re-used.
Remi absolutely HATED the cage I was trying to get him used to. It was overwhelming to him. He liked Mr P's smaller, original cage MUCH better. That is the cage that went with him to his new home
