I am so glad Niki got a good vet report. You must be breathing a sigh of relief.

Yes, I am very pleased with Niki's recovery. I am very dismayed though because I heard from someone who used to take care of the boarding birds at the vet's office that Niki is the third incident she has heard of where a boarding bird was harmed since she left. That makes me so angry and sick. Something happened there and the good staff who had been there for 10 years all abruptly left or were let go.
On another note, I am having a little bit of a hard time getting niki to go back to his cage! He likes the plastic tub. I'm going to play it by ear. Maybe he doesn't feel ready to climb? He may be feeling protected in the tub. I don't want to push him if he's not ready.

Even wrapped well the wing may not heal back 100% correctly and that may leave a permanent droop in the wing. It depends how well the bones were realigned before it began to calcify which can't really be seen without an x-Ray . It doesn't seem to hinder flight very much once it's healed though. I've helped plenty of wild birds with broken wings and my own birds outside in the loft have broken a wing occasionally. Most have recovered but a few have kept a drooped wing yet continued on fine as if there was no issue.

I am really hoping that you are not going to board Niki there again. That is so sad. Glad to hear about the improvements.

Niki went from this: To this: He is back in his cage. The wing hangs lower, but doesn't seem to cause him pain. Don't worry, I have found other people he can stay with in the future. They are the vet techs who used to work for this vet. They are very good and have known Niki for 10 years now.

Oh, the poor little guy! I'm glad he's much better now. It's a pity he and you had to go through this. At least he has a great mum! I showed Bonnie Niki's photo and she likes him.

awwww.... I would hate to see any bird in this condition. So glad he is feeling better. I noticed in the second picture that the door opens all the way down. Maybe you should prop it up so that it stays half way open .... this way it would give Niki another platform to sit on. Just a suggestion.
Take care
