Hi all, Loki is getting better with stepping up onto my hands. Still very timid but getting there! He seems to have taken a MAJOR dislike to poor Joel. If Joel goes anywhere near him he'll try to bite him Not sure what to do about this..... I'm a bit worried how he'll go if we let him become flighted. I'm scared he'll try to attack Joel! Anyway on a funny note these little buggers can be so hilarious! Loki has been doing the 'flapping and leaning' if he wants to go in a certain direction for whatever reason which is kinda cute The funny thing is if I'm doing something and don't go straight away he 'taps' me on the shoulder with his beak (not biting at all just knocking with his beak) and does the 'flapping and leaning' thing..... Impatient little bugger! But oh so cute!

That is so cute... I love how Oscar communicates when he wants to go somewhere. I always get two taps whether on my hand or my shoulder. He will point to the direction he wants to go.... and off we go. He keeps me moving that is for sure. He just spent 45 minutes inside my dishwasher. I think he thinks it is another cage of some sort.. lol. Too bad he didn't empty it for me. One thing he loves is another house to play in.

The dishwasher is one of Ralph's favorite places to play too. And I have to keep certain clean dishes in there because he expects them to be there. If they're not, he acts disappointed.

Maybe there's a special chapter devoted to dishwashers in the Quaker Human Slave Training Manual.

I WISH Maya would tap me and lean when she wanted to go places. At the moment she just quacks repeatedly, flaps her wings and then looks at me like I'm an idiot when I go in the wrong direction. I mean, how am I supposed to know? I'm only a human!

Ang, how do you guys react when Loki attacks Joel? When the bird does something like this, you want to react as little as possible and then make sure the bird gets no attention from the person that he wants attention from the most. Ignore him for a period of 30 secs. When Cupcake was being aggressive against my wife, what helped the most in the long term was one-on-one time between her and Cupcake that forced Cupcake to see that she wasn't too bad. It took a long time though. Keep us posted on how this develops.

Hi Aaron. Joel just walks away. As I said I'm not sure how things will go if we let Loki become flighted as I'm frightened he might try to attack Joel, but we'll just have to wait and see how he goes I guess. Yes I thought about letting Joel and Loki have some one on one but now Joel's a little frightened of Loki Thanks again for the advice...

Yeah, these situations are tough. Does Joel give Loki treats? That can help sometimes. For now I would probably not let Loki become flighted... not until you have the aggression under control. I don't blame Joel for being a bit frightened. To the extent that he can show Loki that he's not going anywhere, that would be good... but I imagine that will take some time given the circumstances.
Sorry you guys are dealing with this... Keep us posted on how it progresses.
