Beccilouise.... Maya has definitely bonded with you and for now she is allowing David to be around. I believe in time... David will be a challenge for her and because she will want all of your attention... when David tries to give you some... there might be a loud argument going on. lol... one way of course.
Jan... you actually get to fall asleep? lucky you. I tried to get a 10 min. nap today since I did not sleep well last night.... and Oscar would not allow it at all. He first starts with these cute little beeps... about one minute apart...When I do not react... then comes the loud squak.... and still if I do not react... this will go on forever. May as well get up and get the day done. Now I sit here and I cannot wait for bedtime... I am exhausted. Oscar used to give me one hour of quiet alone time... but I guess because it is spring time ... well .... everything changes. I still love him but I tell ya... I was ready to throw something at him this afternoon.... lol

Oh, Julianna, poor you! I HATE sleep deprivation, it's the worst thing, it makes me feel so groggy and sick. Bless Oscar, but if I were in your situation, I think I would want to throw something at him too! Gotta love how they love us, though, even if it's a thoroughly demanding and selfish love! Hope you sleep better tonight...

Haha beak bonking is very cute. I much prefer it to biting Glad I could help you guys with a name (although I doubt I coined the term) The fact that she is friendly to everyone is a very good sign and it is representative of a very good social foundation. While I'd be surprised if you don't at some point run into some favoritism and defensive/aggressive behavior, I think you'll be able to more easily return to a place of friendly social behavior in her because you've cemented it so early. The building nests around your head is extremely cute! Be careful letting her poke around nearby while you are sleeping though... they can sneak into little nooks and crannies around your body pretty easily (they look like great nesting sites) and it's easy to not know they are there and accidentally crush them by moving or rolling over. Just something to keep in mind

That's a very good point, Aaron, and something that occurred to me last night, so may consider putting her play stand a little further away from the sofa if I nap. When she's flighted, I may consider getting her a living room cage so we can pop her into that if need be. Otherwise, I can just wheel her normal cage into the lounge with me. Plenty of options! But yes, she is only tiny and I don't want her to get hurt. Thanks!

Just something to keep in mind Good point. Bonnie has got caught in the gap between the two cushion pads of our leather sofa twice. Both times it was when she was on the couch and decided to lunge at my husband's hand to peck at/bite him and he reflexively stood up to get away (the sofa cushions - which had a gap between them when my husband was sitting down - closed on her tail and, the second time, her foot). It's certainly something we didn't foresee.

Right! Better safe than sorry. They are so small and fragile! When we nap, Cupcake goes in her day cage near the couch.. She will usually let us get away with about an hour before she starts grumping.

Hahaha, it's no trouble to move Maya's cage in or put her playstand a little further away while she's not flighted. We also have a smaller cage that she could play in for half an hour or so while I nap, it's easily big enough for her to spread her wings and hop about, it's just a bit smaller than her regular cage.

Once upon a time Oscar also loved the yogurt container but now he hates them. He seem to dislike anything that is round including my coffee cup, hand cream jar, cans of pop etc.
Oh... and don't forget the empty toilet paper roll which he literally attacks every day. The vet told me it was good to give him something to take his frustrations out on... so each day I place an empty toilet paper roll in one of the 3 drawers on his condo in the bathroom. It is just hilarious to see him attack that roll and shake it from side to side. Eventually he will throw it onto the floor and then I will jump around and yell... GET OUT OF HERE... over and over. Oscar loves the commotion. He even comes onto my finger and I will lower him to the floor and he will run like crazy to get that roll. He scoots it out of the bathroom and down the hallway and then he is satisfied and will return to the drawers waiting for a lift up.
It is lots of fun for him but... he will only let me leave him there for 10 minutes or less... then he will call me to come. When I go to see him he wants to check those drawers again to make sure no other roll got in there. So I open and close the drawers so that he can see it is "ALL GONE". and he is happy for at least 5 more minutes. This gets repeated oohhhh 15-20 times every evening.
whew... I am tired just thinking about it... lol

Hahahaha, Julianna that's hilarious! What a fun game! I have not introduced Maya to toilet roll tubes yet, but she LOOOOOVES tissue paper! Anything she can chew to pieces and litter all over the floor is A-OKAY in her opinion! We've been through another yoghurt pot this morning, and a piece of tissue paper, and I've had to wrestle her to retrieve a teaspoon which she was running around with, dragging it behind her like a loon. And it's only 10 o'clock here! Phew!

Hi everyone. It is funny about Quaker parrots and their "obsessions". Chuckie loves to "ventilate" paper towels, arrange in a creatively place layer in the small plastic tub I put in his condo, and then burrow into the paper tucking his head under a convenient flap of the mutilated towel. He looks content and happy, so I just let him be for a while. It is so dear that Maya thinks she is helping you by giving you her toys. What a fun story. Thanks.
