'Toos do a lot of just vocalizing that doesn't necessarily mean they're talking. They're just making noises. But the better we get to know Rocky, the more we understand when he IS talking. The other day we finally figured out one of his phrases. He really wanted us to: he repeated it about a dozen times. It's "Wash your butt!"  Oooookay. He also looks out the window sometimes and raises his crest and says "Whaaaaattt?  " In spite of his sometimes challenging behaviors, when he's being fun and cute, he's REALLY fun and cute. |

Hubby is still reluctant to pick him up, but he pets him and they play the Towel Game, and Bill gives him treats. They have an understanding, as long as Daddy doesn't interrupt Rocky's huggins. (snuggle time with Mommy, usually just before bed).

Isn't it wonderful watching them come out of their shell? He must be really happy with his "new" home.

Goodness knows he ought to be. We do everything we can think of to make him happy except, perhaps, make the dogs move out. LOL Rocky's not a fan, and the feeling is mutual, but they have a signed treaty.

I wouldn't trust anything a parrot has signed  But he does seem to be moving forward at a good rate which means he is learning to trust you - that is a very great thing you have achieved with him. Sometimes what appears to be little steps for us are actually great leaps of faith for our animals. |

Well done, Siobhan - it's marvellous how well Rocky is going. And it's also great that your hubby is able to interact with him in an appropriate manner (even if it is limited so far).
