Casey likes to keep watch on the pups, Daniel likes to hang out under her cage waiting for pellets to drop, he keeps the area clean for me!

Hi Casey! Haha, it's nice that you have someone to help you keep things clean! Cute photo.

Here is a pic from the fall, Daniel is the little guy on the right. Gaston on the left just waits for the end of the day when I hand feed him the leftover pellets in her dish.

I love that eye to the ground. I also love it when they twist their heads to look up at you. We have green anole lizards here that will do the same thing when I talk to them. And I do talk to them. Allie grey loves to toss her pellets out to the dogs. I'm not sure what that's about, but I think she just likes calling the shots. Peppy did that once, when we were at the animal hospital. We were sitting close to the pharmacy, and there was a dog there that I guess caught Peppy's fancy, because he started tossing food in the dog's direction.

The lizards sound cool! Yup Casey is definitely in charge, the pups can be sound asleep and she will tell them when to wake up and bark out the window, if she sees the mailman or someone out front.

Peppy is the only one, out of two birds and two dogs, who alerts us to cars or people approaching. It's a special call that we don't hear from him at any other time. My husband respects critters who earn their keep, and I think Peppy is his favorite.

Peppy sounds just like Casey, it is a very different call. Everyone knows to look out the window.

There's no way anyone could enter or even approach our house without Bonnie alerting us with her alarm call. She goes psycho whenever anyone walks past - we just say to her "too bad, they're allowed to be there!". She's the ultimate alarm bird. Your pups have it all worked out...free chow!

Cupcake immediately sounds the alarm, even if someone just knocks on the front door. Once the door is open, if she doesn't know them, it escalates quickly. And if, for example, maintenance people do something like come into the kitchen and replace our oven, like they did last week, there will be a bird flying around the house in circles screaming bloody murder You would think by now, however, that she would know the pizza guy that she has seen 15 times... and since she usually gets a tiny piece of pizza crust here and there, would find him to be agreeable... but no, that is not the case.

Casey usually gets put in her cage if someone comes to the door. She is a flirt she likes to meet new people and will call them over. When they head to the door she very politely calls bye bye. Sometimes that doesn't happen till they shut the door and they miss hearing it. She just doesn't like people outside the window. The safest way to let little kids hold her is to put her on their heads. They stand there grinning and I click pictures. It's always cute of both of them. She tips her head and keeps watch on them too.
