Shah had his 3 monthly visit to the vet today. The vet was amazed at the condition he was in. He even put a lamp on him as he couldn't believe the gloss from his feathers and how they had become a deeper green. He noticed all sorts of things - even his beak has changed colour. And I have raved on before about how his eyes are now round and soft. He had a blood test and a poo culture and I get the results on Monday but am hoping that he has turned the corner and is now free and clear of the problems he had in July. It has been a long road and I know part of his stomach remains paralysed but as far as I am concerned he is out of the woods now. It has been well worth the money to get my cheeky little boy back.

That's wonderful news! Did you notice all of the changes in appearance or were they too gradual to be obvious? Could you post a photo of Shah? I'd love to see how handsome he is!

I will have to get Dani to post it for me. The changes were gradual but the eyes widening and becoming soft was pretty sudden.

So far between Shah and Pippin it has cost AUD$6,500. I ring the vet in 10 mins to see what the blood test and cultures show. Fingers and toes are crossed that it is good news.

Just spoke to the vet - all is okay except for the reading on his stomach. So he has to have another barium xray tomorrow morning to make sure that nothing else is happening. I can do without it but if the xray comes back same as the last one, then that will be fine as we know part of his stomach is paralysed. I will need to review the cost figure I have given you Julianna  |

Shah is sure one tough little bird to go through all this and be looking so good. And you are an amazing parront! I hope tomorrow's x-ray goes well and that the news continues to be positive. Pity the vet doesn't give you a frequent customer discount...
