I am glad to hear I am not alone in the battle for clean food and water. Chuckie used to dunk everything, I think he picked up the habit by watching my Mother, who was a confirmed dunker. Even though I have a sipper bottle, I still replace the water daily. I also add ice to it, Chuckie definitely likes cold water. He had his Christmas Eve treat of a piece of a cranberry and grain breakfast bar. Seemed to like it. I try to add variety to his foods to keep him interested. Bath day is tomorrow. I hope I am not a pin cushion before it is done. How I wish he liked water. Nothing I have tried has worked to get him reacquainted to bathing himself in a shallow water bowl. Happy Holidays everyone.

I think that food dunking must be instinctive in Quakers. Peppy does it, too, and it seems to be very common. Another good Quaker name: Dunkin. My grey doesn't dunk, but she likes to make pellet soup.

To get your Quaker to like the water, try splashing in the water with your hand. This usually gets them excited and hopefully will come closer to the water. Never force them into the water as this will definitely scare them and then he won't go later. If he doesn't like a full bath perhaps just use the spray bottle. Many Quakers prefer the spray as well.
