Thanks cnyguy! That makes me feel better. The only thing I could think of that made sense to me was maybe he had fluid in his ears and was trying to shake it out. That's why I was a bit concerned!

I actually know what the grumble was for, lol. He's been doing it all night because he wants some seeds in his food dish, and I'm trying very hard to wean him off of them. But the head shaking while squeaking is what I'm unsure of. He doesn't seem to make that squeaking sound very much outside of shaking his head like that.

First, I know I've asked many questions over the past month, and I apologize for that. I'm a first time parrot owner, and when things come up that I'm unsure of I just like getting advice from knowledgeable, experienced owners. I do appreciate all the advice and feedback you guys have given me!
I mentioned a while ago that Yoshi had started shaking his head, and I wasn't really sure what it was all about. It continued, and everything else seemed fine so I just shrugged it off. Lately, however, he's started making a squeaking sound when he does it. I was able to get it on video tonight.

None that I've seen! He did this alarm call again tonight. It happened when my sister pulled up to my place. I'm not sure if he heard her pull up and that's what set him off or not. There's no way he could have seen her car.
It makes me wonder what goes through his head when he does this and I just sit there and stare at him. Is he thinking "what the heck man, I'm warning you of danger, move!"

That is the Quaker alarm call. Is there a window nearby so that Yoshi can see outside? Ralph sometimes sees things through the window that he doesn't like and will do an alarm call. He doesn't do wing flaps at the same time though He will usually have a daily wing-flapping session for exercise-- but it's not accompanied by any vocalizations. There is a window nearby, but its on the same wall as his cage so he would have a hard time seeing much out of it. Plus, the blinds were down at the time this happened (it was night time). I keep them open during the daylight hours after I wake up.

Shah flies in place like this. However, he doesn't make that sound which seems to be like an alarm call. I don't wish to offend you but your quaker might not like your taste in music. Shah gets agitated with loud music - he likes easy listening music, Mozart and some of those animal meditation CDs but I turn the sound down. Well, I already knew he was a picky little booger . Will monitor it more and see. That's the first time he's done that while I had music playing, however, and I generally have music on 1-3 hours per day. He usually just does it 1-2 times randomly throughout the day. I've never noticed anything unusual or different going on in the area when it happens. And it wasn't that loud, tbh. My phone is good about picking up a sound and amplifying it when recording (you can kinda see what I mean by how the music gets softer while he's making noise).

Thanks for the responses! They have left me baffled, however. I'm going to have to pay more attention when he does this in the future, to see what's going on that could be scaring him.

I think he might just be excercising his wings, but he does this a couple times every day. Is this normal?

hahahah Thanks Gary. Yes I was thinking the same thing!!! I'm guessing that happens a lot, them pooping all over you! Ang I've only had my little guy for a month...but I can definitely tell you that yes, it does happen a lot! I definitely understand your hesitation, and you asking yourself if you are able to handle it. I went through the same thing. I did literally months of research and made up my mind. I found a breeder and scheduled a day to make the drive to pick him up. A couple days before it was time to go get him, I nearly backed out second guessing my decision. Wondering if I would be able to give him everything he needed to be happy and healthy. But after having him for a month, I am SO glad I didn't back out. Now, let's wait for the terrible twos, and my thoughts on that might just change

Oscar will lunge at anything that I am carrying... even if it is his own food. For some reason I am not allowed to carry things when he is with me. I have learned though... if he is on my right shoulder... I must carry everything with my left hand... and vice versa. Keeps the biting down. Lol, that's amusing. Is it an attention thing? Like maybe he thinks you're giving attention to an object instead of him?

I think I heard him making the classic quaker 'purring' sound just before he got his treat (?). Yep! I noticed that too, cause it's rather unusual for him unless he is right by my face!
