In one of my bird books, there's a photo of a cardinal feeding a goldfish in a garden pond. The above picture of the molted cardinal reminded me of that; I haven't looked at that book in a long time.
Our native wild birds who are here year-round, or are winter residents, are accustomed to snow and cold, but now, many of the migratory birds have returned from warmer places to the south. I'm sure they're not happy with all the recent snow and chilly weather we've had.
